You can compare results across years from 2018 onwards using our analysis tool.

In 2018 the questionnaire was significantly redeveloped to reflect changes to primary care services in England as set out in the GP Forward View. In addition, for the first time the sample included 16-17 year olds to improve the inclusivity of the survey. These changes mean that the majority of questions are not comparable with results from previous publications, even where question wording remains similar.

For more information on these changes please refer to the 2018 technical report and questionnaire development report.

The National Report was reissued on 12th July 2019 with small adjustments to wording and footnotes on page 35. The National Report was reissued on 9th July 2020 with updates to the 2018 and 2019 data in the chart and text on page 54.

The list of reporting variables and CSV files at National, CCG and GP Practice level were reissued on 12th February 2020 with the codes names for “Autism or autism spectrum condition” at Question 35 updated (from Q31_18 and Q31_18pct to Q31_21 and Q31_21pct respectively). No changes were made to the results within these files.”
